Mediterranean, Black Sea   & Red Sea

At just under a month long, there’s no finer way to extend the summer, as Discovery follows the sun from the Channel to the Bosphorus.
Along the way, you hear tales of Henry the Navigator and visit his city on the TagusYou’ll step underground in Gibraltar, exploring the Great Siege tunnels that burrow through the Rock.
From Almeria, you can visit Granada’s Alhambra, you can dine out late in Nice, sip cappuccinos anywhere from pretty Portofino to majestic St. Mark’s in Venice.
Your horizons will be filled with the profiles of Vesuvius and Stromboli, Names all but unknown dot the Slovenian and Croatian coast, inviting you to explore their special blend of old world architecture and picturesque squares that share the Adriatic coast.
Then, as we cruise the Aegean, Homeric tales fit neatly in and around Ithaca, while today’s seaside pleasures sit side by side with ancient villages and antiquities dating back 6,000 years.

Galapagos & Panama   Canal

Stand high in the Andes astride the Equator in Quito.
Watch as elegant frigate birds sweep over-head in the Galapagos and frenetic Sally Lightfoot crabs tap-dance across your feet.
Thread a passage through the Panama Canal to the San Blas Islands and the rainforests of Costa Rica.

South Pacific

Visit magical places like Bora Bora, the ‘island of dreams’.
Or Rangiroa, where beaches barely surface above the blue of the Pacific and each little atoll can be claimed as your own private island.
Then head on to storied places whose histories will each speak volumes. Or discover the easy-paced South American journey which stitches together a number of fascinating strands like those of an elaborate alpaca yarn.
Colonial cobbles contrast with high-rise city styles as we visit three capitals, and blend these with some of the most remote beaches and bays in the Pacific.
Headlining your holiday is our stay in the Galapagos

Scandinavia, Russia,   Greenland & Iceland

Choose from 13 adventures covering facinating locations from the Norwegian Fjords, Iceland, Greenland, Ireland, Spitsbergen and incredable Baltic discoveries

Antarctica & South   America

The infectious atmosphere of Rio, stylish squares and villas around Montevideo and its River Plate neighbor Buenos Aires provide the first turns of a travel kaleidoscope that also glistens with snow-capped peaks and calving glaciers.
You’ll glimpse whale flukes that elegantly rise and fall around a host of islands new to Discovery’s Antarctic trail, but well traveled by legendary names of yesteryear.

you might prefer to do nothing but watch the world sail by.

To maintain or achieve optimum health, work with one of our qualified personal trainers or take one of our fitness classes lead by knowledgeable instructors.

Reviews:

  • "A new line run by cruise veterans, Discovery World Cruises was inaugurated in 2003, headed by Gerry Herrod -- a well-known figure in the cruise world as former chairman of Orient Lines, Ocean Line Cruises and Pearl Cruises. The new line seeks to serve a niche clientele: travelers who crave adventure, but also love the comforts and amenities of traditional cruising.. "
  • "The MV Discovery attracts a well-traveled, slightly older group who care more about interesting destinations and educational talks than lavish facilities. Most of the passengers are American, but the itineraries attract a fair number of English and Australian travelers, and sometimes groups from Asia, as well. An unusual number of single passengers may be found on some cruises, as there is no single supplement for several destinations."

Discovery World Cruises Experience:

  • Interesting destinations are the great strength for Discovery World. Cruise tours of 13 to 27 days travel to exotic locales from Antarctica to Easter Island, the Chilean fjords to the South Pacific, as well as passage to New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, Mayan Mexico, and the Panama Canal, and trans-Atlantic crossings. Tours always include free stays in cosmopolitan first and last ports, as well as excellent lecturers on board.
  • From May through October, the MV Discovery operates under charter to Voyages of Discovery, a tour operator based in the U.K. offering cruises of the British Isles, the Baltic, Greenland, Iceland and the Faroes Islands, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, Red Sea, Suez Canal and North Africa.
  • On the bridge are Captain Derrick Kemp from Britain, an experienced Master who has had command of passenger ships for the past 16 years.
  • They are supported by a team of Officers from Europe and over 300 friendly international crew members. Cabin and restaurant staff hail predominantly from the Philippines. Renowned for their high standards, you'll be the first to appreciate their courteousness and their attentive levels of service. In addition to our experienced cruise staff and the company of the guest speakers we've invited to join us, you'll also enjoy the talents of a highly accomplished team of musicians and entertainers.
